Primary PDHPE programs
Brewongle Environmental Education Centre provides engaging, hands-on PDHPE learning experiences for primary students from Stage 1 to Stage 3 (Year 1 to Year 6). Located on Dharug Country at Sackville North in North West Sydney, our programs use the natural environment to support students’ physical, social and emotional wellbeing through active, outdoor and experiential learning.
Using Brewongle’s diverse bushland and outdoor spaces, students participate in activities that encourage movement, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, leadership and connection with others and the natural environment. Programs provide opportunities for students to build confidence, strengthen relationships, develop personal and social skills, and explore practical strategies for caring for themselves, others and Country.
Programs are delivered by NSW Department of Education teachers and designed to support the NSW Personal Development, Health and Physical Education K–6 Syllabus (2024), with a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, participation and positive relationships. Through nature play, traditional games, team challenges and outdoor experiences, students are encouraged to be active, connect with others and develop skills that support lifelong health and wellbeing.
Aboriginal perspectives and connection to Country are embedded across relevant programs. Where programs include Aboriginal cultural learning, we aim to have an Aboriginal Cultural Educator or Aboriginal Education Teacher present to facilitate and support learning. Where a cultural educator is not available, our experienced Brewongle teachers deliver the program using their cultural education knowledge and training, with ongoing support from cultural knowledge holders.
