Stage 6 / Year 11 and 12 excursions

Our Stage 6 (Year 11 and Year 12) excursions provide authentic, fieldwork experiences in the natural environment that challenge students to apply their knowledge, collect and analyse data, and engage with complex real-world issues. Delivered by qualified NSW Department of Education teachers, programs are aligned to senior Geography, Biology and Earth and Environmental Science syllabuses and support students to develop independent thinking, collaboration, problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of environmental, cultural and sustainability connections.

At Brewongle Environmental Education Centre, Aboriginal perspectives are embedded across all programs. While Aboriginal Culture may not always be the primary focus, we incorporate meaningful cultural learning opportunities that help students develop an understanding of Country, culture and community.

Selected programs also include authentic, place-based learning led by a Cultural Educator or Aboriginal Education Teacher through shared knowledge, stories and hands-on experiences.

Earth and Environmental Science - this program will be updated to align with the new Earth and Environmental Science syllabus in 2027

Module 4 - Human impacts and Module 1 - Cause and effect - AUSMAP microplastics

This citizen science excursion engages students in the AUSMAP national microplastic monitoring project, using standardised fieldwork methods to collect and analyse microplastic, macrolitter and environmental data from the Hawkesbury River and contribute to national research.

Earth and Environmental and Investigating Science - this program will be phased out by the end of 2026
