Site information
Our centre has a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces to support learning in nature. We offer safe and comfortable areas for hands-on activities, group work and overnight camp stays.
Brewongle Environmental Education Centre is located at 587 Chapel Hill Road, Sackville North NSW 2756.
Brewongle visitor access & bus bay is at 730 Sackville Ferry Road Sackville North NSW 2756.
Students should arrive via our bus bay at 730 Sackville Ferry Road. Buses should not attempt to access the centre via Chapel Hill Road as access is tight and not appropriate for buses. There is a short, signposted walk from the bus bay downhill to the centre.
Students or other visitors with specific mobility requirements may use the direct centre access if in smaller vehicles. If students with specific mobility requirements arrive on buses, Brewongle staff will organise to meet the students at the bus bay in our centre vehicle and transport to the centre. For this reason, please ensure we are made aware of any particular mobility needs prior to the excursion date.
Not all learning spaces are easily accessible by wheelchairs, however Brewongle has a Hippocampe wheelchair for bush tracks, and most programs can be modified to allow for wheelchair access. Disabled toilet with hoist available.
Please read your booking information carefully as this is clearly explained along with a map to provide to the bus driver.
Our local environment
Most of our programs take place at our site on Dharug Country, nestled in the forest overlooking Dyarubbin—the majestic Hawkesbury River—at Sackville North, NSW.
Brewongle Environmental Education Centre is located on a 5-acre, south-facing ridge approximately 70 meters above the river, surrounded by native Eucalypt forest.
We also offer programs at Blacktown Showground and Nurragingy Reserve, as well as incursion programs delivered directly at your school.
Brewongle's natural spaces are part of our everyday learning. While at Brewongle, students can explore:
- walking tracks and bush trails
- habitats for native plants and animals
- Dyarubbin - the Hawkesbury River
- Brewongle's rich cultural and historical meaning
Our learning spaces
At our centre, the majority of our programs take place outdoors, immersing students in nature. We proudly provide extensive outdoor areas designed for hands-on activities, along with access to walking trails and nearby bushland.
While we also have indoor classrooms for lessons and group work, our focus is on creating learning experiences that allow students to actively engage with and connect deeply to the natural environment in all kinds of weather.
Our support of nature play
The Brewongle nature play area is an outdoor play space designed to encourage children to connect with nature through imaginative, sensory and active play. It typically features natural elements such as logs, rocks, plants, water features, and varied terrain to stimulate physical activity, creativity, and environmental awareness.
The area supports learning through exploration, music, social interaction, and sensory experiences in a natural setting, fostering both physical and cognitive development.
