Students explore how Aboriginal Peoples sustainably used the resources of Country through a bush resource walk, Dharug plant knowledge, storytelling with ochre and symbols, and traditional Indigenous games.

Places are similar and different - Are we there yet?
Students explore Indigenous perspectives of place, investigate bush resources, and use geographical tools to compare microclimates and the similarities and differences between Brewongle and their own school.

The Earth’s environment – Tawny tragedy
Students become eco-detectives in this geographical inquiry, using maps and fieldwork to investigate the mysterious death of a Tawny Frogmouth while exploring the essential needs for life—water, food and shelter—and the interconnectedness of the environment.

The Earth’s environment – Blacktown marshy mystery
Students use geographical skills and tools to investigate a rare sighting of the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog, exploring its needs for water, food and shelter while examining the connections between people, urban development and natural habitats.

Students use historical inquiry skills to investigate the century-old mystery of ancient bones discovered near Sackville Reach Public School and uncover the secrets of the past.

Physical and living systems depend on energy - Pond predators
Students investigate pond ecosystems to explore how Earth’s systems—the biosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere—support living organisms and how changes in one system can affect the entire ecosystem.

Living world – Nature at Nurragingy
Students investigate the health of the environment at Nurragingy Reserve by identifying plant and animal species, exploring their life cycles, and examining the vital connections within local ecosystems.
