Supporting our learners
Inclusive, accessible and engaging environmental education for every learner
At Brewongle Environmental Education Centre, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to connect with nature, explore the environment and participate in meaningful outdoor learning experiences.
We recognise that every learner is unique. Our programs, facilities and learning environments are designed to support students with diverse abilities, learning needs and backgrounds. We understand that unfamiliar environments, changes in routine and outdoor activities can present challenges for some students.
Whether visiting for a day excursion, incursion or overnight camp, we aim to create a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels safe, valued and ready to learn.
Through thoughtful planning, flexible approaches and open communication, our qualified NSW Department of Education teachers work collaboratively with visiting schools to support student participation and engagement.
We encourage visiting teachers to contact our team before their visit to discuss individual learning, accessibility, sensory, mobility or wellbeing requirements. This allows us to work together to identify reasonable adjustments and help ensure a positive learning experience for all.
Together, we can help every student feel welcome, confident and ready to make the most of their Brewongle experience.
Supporting individual student needs - Planning together for a positive experience
We recognise that some students may require additional adjustments or support to participate comfortably and confidently in outdoor learning.
Visiting teachers are encouraged to discuss individual student needs with Brewongle staff before their excursion, incursion or overnight camp.
This may include considerations relating to:
- Accessibility and mobility
- Sensory sensitivities
- Neurodiversity and individual learning needs
- Anxiety and emotional wellbeing
- Medical requirements
- Communication preferences
- Participation in outdoor activities
Early communication allows our team to consider reasonable adjustments and work with visiting schools to support student participation.
Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming and engaging learning experience where every student has the opportunity to participate and succeed.
