High potential and gifted education (HPGE) and targeted specialised programs
Brewongle Environmental Education Centre offers targeted specialised programs and programs designed to enhance and develop the abilities of high potential and gifted (HPGE) students across creative, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional domains.
Open to all students (Early Stage 1 to Stage 6) —including those outside NSW Department of Education schools (excluding Duke of Edinburgh and Bush Studio camp)—our programs feature hands-on activities in nature connected to Science, Geography, and History. Students engage in creative thinking, problem solving, leadership tasks, and meaningful exploration of big questions, while learning about caring for Country, sustainability, and Aboriginal cultures. Optional classroom activities extend learning before and after visits.
Our qualified teachers are trained to support and challenge high potential learners, and activities are adaptable to suit varying stages, strengths, and interests. NSW Department of Education staff can access the Inspire – High potential and gifted education Policy for further guidance.
