Camp overview

he HPGE Bush Studio Camp offers Stage 3 public school students (Years 5 and 6) an exciting and immersive visual arts experience led by skilled and passionate visual arts teachers.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Hawkesbury River and surrounding forests, the camp provides students with opportunities to observe, interpret and respond to their immediate environment while developing their artistic skills, creativity and confidence.

Students will discover a range of strategies for exploring their experience of the landscape, creating preliminary, process-focused works that become departure points for more resolved, studio-based artworks. Through observation, experimentation and creative thinking, students will investigate different ways of representing and responding to the natural world around them.

Students will also explore the use of natural found objects to create sculptural works, using these sculptures as inspiration for further artmaking, including drawings and monoprints. The immersive camp environment encourages students to experiment with materials and techniques, develop and refine their ideas, and work alongside other students with a shared passion and talent for visual arts.

The program culminates in a special student art exhibition on the final day of camp, providing families, friends and teachers with the opportunity to celebrate the students' creativity and view the artworks developed throughout the experience.
