Program overview
This excursion is an exciting exploration of Dharug Country!
Students will engage with Aboriginal cultural learnings through a series of hands-on activities, including shelter building, Dharug language learning, storytelling, ochre painting, and hunting and gathering games.
The day concludes with the joint creation of class Acknowledgements of Country.

Songlines and Story Students learn about food, medicine and songlines. Students listen to a story and sing a ‘songline’ song as they collect resources on a bushwalk |

Ochre Students learn about trees, earth and art. Students create ochre and paint symbols on their bodies |

Emu Egg Hunt Students learn about the night sky, seasons and animals. Students play a game that mimics collecting emu eggs |

Acknowledgement of Country workshop Students learn about landforms, lore, responsibilities and differences between Welcomes and Acknowledgements. Students create a class Acknowledgement. |

Buses are booked by the visiting school. A map to the bus parking will be sent with the schools confirmation email. Please ensure you print the map and give to the bus driver the morning of the excursion. |

Using the Brewongle medical and welfare form (sent with the confirmation email), inform Brewongle staff of any medical conditions or special requirements prior to the visit This program can be adapted for teachers and students with specific mobility requirements |

Visit our visitor information page to view our weather trigger points for program changes On days where the weather is unsuitable, a Brewongle staff member will contact the organising teacher to discuss alternative arrangements |
