The Hawkesbury is well known for its ancient geography and its diverse and unique mix of landscapes.
A visit to the centre will leave you with lifelong memories of the beautiful scenery, the 1878 school setting, the Hawkesbury River and surrounding forests and food that you could eat straight from the garden.
School camp can cause significant anxiety (for teachers and for students!) but we don't want students to miss such a wonderful experience. The interactive tour of Brewongle will help our visitors become familiar with the site.
The tour starts at the Brewongle bus bay and allows you to explore the entire site including inside cabins and indoor and outdoor teaching spaces. Please take a tour with your class using the link to the right.
Our inclusive education website has a myriad of helpful videos, social stories and information to help you prepare your students.
Brewongle offers 2 or 3 day camping programs to both primary and secondary students. Students will experience a unique blend of curriculum, environmental, historical and cultural programs that utilise the diverse attractions, quality facilities and natural habitats of the surrounding Hawkesbury region.
Brewongle can cater for 50 students who are accommodated in 4 x A-frame huts. Students “glamp” by sleeping on new comfortable stretcher beds. We also have some large bell tents and a demountable classroom to cater for larger groups (up to 70 students).
Teachers and parents stay in our purpose built and comfortable teacher accommodation. This contains 4 separate bedrooms, a communal lounge and kitchen area (with an extra student bed for emergencies) and a communal staff bathroom.
For groups over 30 students, a Brewongle teacher and will be on site until 9pm to assist visiting teachers in running evening activities. This evening teacher is an optional extra, at cost, for groups less than 30 students. We will provide catering staff at mealtimes to prepare and cook food during the day and help serve in the evening.
Overnight supervision is the responsibility of visiting school teachers.
We may tell stories and cook damper twists on the campfire - weather permitting, watch a wildlife presentation from a local wildlife company - optional extra, spotlight for nocturnal wildlife in the bush, or perhaps watch a movie in our beautiful indoor learning area.
All camping programs can be individually tailored to your current unit of study and any day program can be run on a camp. Optional activities such as nature play, Traditional Indigenous Games (TIGs), solar cars, bottle rocket racers, dipnetting, the old classroom and many more can be included. Most camp programs include kayaking on the beautiful Hawkesbury River.
The Camp Package document will outline all the logistics of camp, including what to bring to camp, accomodation, menus and other facilities, emergency procedures, guidelines and risk assessments. A copy of this document will be sent to the school upon booking.
Students and staff will need to bring their own recess and lunch on the first day of camp.
Brewongle EEC is able to offer low cost camp options as we are a Department of Education Facility. If booked, our evening teacher will help visiting teachers to coordinate students to help serve, eat and clean up after meals. It is expected that visiting teachers and students will assist at all meal times in the process of serving and cleaning up. This allows us to provide such cost efficient camps.
Please see the Risk Management Plans page on our website for all our RMPs.

We sincerely acknowledge Aboriginal Elders past, present and emerging - the masters of sustainability. We thank the Elders and knowledge-holders who've shared with us, and those we work and connect with at Brewongle. We endeavour to continue to connect with Darug land and build her connection with our students.
