Activity 1 - Habitat assessment
Students test the health of Brewongle’s forests by observation and scientific testing.
Activity 2 - Nest box habitat survey
Students work in small groups to navigate to some of Brewongle’s nest boxes. Using an extendable camera and video screen set-up, students view inside the boxes, identifying inhabitants and recording evidence of use.
Activity 3 - Water quality, scats and tracks
Using scientific equipment, students test the quality of the water sources that would be used by lace monitors in the area.
Students consider the impacts to our dynamic forest ecosystem by looking for evidence of animal life. Students record and classify the animals present by identifying their scats and / or tracks.
