Apologies! We had some technical issues with the Zoom link for our planned webinar on 1/9/21. We will try again! Please note the new time.
Wednesday 8th September 2021
1:30-2pm
Join us a we read a Darug story about Dyarubbin - The Hawkesbury River and learn how to make a traditional bark canoe.
If you come prepared with the materials below you can make your own mini canoe during the session! I wonder if it will float?
What you need:
- Some cardboard like a cereal box. Thin cardboard will be best. If you have a paperbark tree then a section of paperbark will work too! About the size of a cereal box
- String and scissors
- a few sticks - about the size and length of a pencil
- Some wet clay or mud - optional!
You could watch this video beforehand to see how we made our big canoe with high school students in 2018!

NSW Dept of Ed students can upload pictures of their canoe via this link
